NOVEMBER/DECEMBER NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents,
Welcome all new parents and thank you returning parents for continuing your
child’s dance education hear at Backstage Dance Studios. Every several months
you will receive a newsletter with important information about holidays, events,
etc.
THANKSGIVING BREAK is Thursday Nov. 24th thru-Sat. 26th . CHRISTMAS
BREAK is Mon. Dec. 19th thru Sat. Dec 31st . Classes resume Mon. Jan 2nd .
Tuition remains the same each month of the year as we’ve laid out our school
year to average 4 classes per month. Any discrepancy will be adjusted in The
finale month’s tuition. Those students who didn’t join at the beginning of Sept.
have already had their tuition prorated from when they started.
“BACKSTAGE” HOODIE/PANTS SWEAT SUIT & SEPARATES. Great for cool
Fall/Winter/Spring temperatures and for students to show their dance school
pride. Hooded long sleeve, pocketed, full zip top and straight leg athletic pant
with white” BACKSTAGE DANCE STUDIO Las Vegas” printed down the front left
arm and leg. 50/50 Poly/Cotton, mid-weight. Complete set Adult $49.95 plus tax =
$54, Child $45.33 plus tax = $49. or separately Adult Top $29.60, Pant
$20.35.Child Top $24.98, Pant $20.35 all plus tax. Available colors are Black,
Red, Royal Blue, and Navy Blue: Small Child thru X Large Adult are available to
try on. I’ll then be taking orders with advance payment. The very last day to
order to receive before Christmas Break, is Dec.3rd .
DRESS CODE for all classes is now being enforced. If you are unclear,
there is the form at the reception desk.
DANCEWEAR and BAGS. Please put your child’s name on their shoes and
leotard tags to easily reunite them if lost. Shelves are provided in all class
rooms for students gear, bags, books , and personal items.
ALTERNATE APPROACH. During the busy 4:00-6:00 rush hour, consider
accessing Backstage Blvd. off of Twain from Boulder Hwy., Mt’ Vista, Sandhill,
or Pecos.
WORK for a CLASS: I need a tallish student or parent to clean the mirrors
at 3:30 on a Monday or Tuesday and also need for a Thursday or Friday for free
class each week per day cleaned. It takes about 30 minutes.
3rd ANNUAL HOLIDAY GET TOGETHER
Again this year we are having our “get together” that will include informal
performances by the entire school. Starting the first week of November, classes
will start learning a short holiday themed number of 45 seconds to 1 min. 30
sec., depending on class level and music selected. No extra rehearsals are
involved. This is to be a light, no stress, fun event for the kids and you. This
event will be held here at the studio in the big room (B) in the early evening
on Sat. Dec. 10th with the first show starting at 5:00 and the last ending
around 7:00. The show schedule for when your child will be performing will come
out later in Nov. Because of limited space, we will be having 4 mini shows to
accommodate each students family (family members only, please) Seating will be
limited, so any younger siblings can sit on the floor. Please, there is only
enough room to attend only the shows that your child is in. Each show will
be approximately 8-10 minutes long with 6-7 classes. The evening will start with
the higher level classes and end with the lower levels. Those students in
multiple classes will be in 2 shows, and a few kids 3, that will be run in
sequence. There is a 20 minute intermission between shows to change over family
audience members , and to socialize in the lobby and studio A with punch and
goodies. We appreciate the finger food that you’ve brought in to share on this
special day. We can use cookies, cup cakes, brownies, banana bread, etc. as well
as a less sugary fruit or vegetable tray, cheeses, deli meats and crackers, egg
rolls and most any thing that doesn’t require a lot of utensils. Students will
need to be at the school in studio C , 25-30 minutes prior to their first show
to warmup. Combo 3/4 and 5/6 children will have a small showing during their
regular Saturday morning class on the 10th and/or Mon. 12th class.
In the absence of costumes, all students will need to wear a red T shirt with
black jazz or athletic pants. As a souvenir or early stocking stuffer, we will
be selling red BACKSTAGE DANCE STUDIO T-shirts for $12 child , $14 adult .
They’ll have the BACKSTAGE DANCE STUDIO/ Las Vegas logo on the front and
the 3 fly girls and Take Flight in Dance on the back. Toddler thru large adult
will be available to see and try on ,. We’ll then be taking orders with advance
payment. Black T’s will also be available ( but not to be used for the show ) .
The very last day to order is Nov. 22rd to make the Dec. 10th show. Ballets will
wear either class attire with some added fru fru, or some previous costumes, all
to be determined by Ms Heather. Some other teachers may want to doll up the kids
outfits as well at no or minimal expense to you.
We choose the 10th over the 17th in the hope that everyone would still be in
town before Christmas Break. Please let our teachers know if your child will not
be able to take part. They still will be able to learn the number along with
their classmates. It is important that your child not miss any classes if
possible. The following week, classes will continue through Dec 17th .
